He Writes Like Hemingway

At least he does in his correspondence.
He does not waste his words.
He’s mastered the quiet, purposeful nod
used by older generations of men
that conveys all the meaning
with none of the hooplah.
When he says something is nice, it is nice.
When he says he respects your opinion, he does.
And when he says that you’ve convinced him,
he’s convinced you.

than a controlled crash.”

Fork

This path is much too winding, wide,
to be the straight and narrow.
It’s not that He’s ignoring things —
His eye’s just on the sparrow.

Frame By Frame

The illustrations
force a slower,
more careful consideration.
Closer attention.
Complete comprehension.
Conscious contemplation.

It’s easy
to get lost in fiction.
But it’s even easier
when imagination
has dimension,
color, and shading.

B

and confirmed
that weird gut feeling I had.
What a pity.
